Article in the Missoulian: Research US Hwy 93 North Completed !

Article in the Missoulian today, Sun 15 Jan 2017. It is about the completion of our research on the effectiveness of the wildlife mitigation measures along US Hwy 93 North on the Flathead Indian Reservation in Montana. The research was conducted by the Western Transportation Institute at Montana State University (WTI-MSU) and the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes (CSKT). Many thanks to all who contributed over the years. The long term research included data from the period 2002-2015. While such long term research projects are rare, they are much more likely to produce important new knowledge that can be directly applied to policy and practice. Special thanks to the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) for being important funders of the research, and to CSKT for standing up for their culture and their values regarding landscape and wildlife.
